LIFE MOTIVATIONAL NUGGETS

LIFE MOTIVATIONAL NUGGETS SERIES 6

Don’t allow history, your history, to detain you. The past always has a way of haunting us. It makes us get stuck in history and constrains our ability to move forward. This should not be. What is past is past, and should be consigned to the dustbin of history where it belongs. Don’t allow the past, become an obstacle to the future.

Yes, we must learn the necessary lessons from history to avoid repeating its tragic occurrences, for indeed, some of its valuable lessons help to shape the future. For if you don’t know where the rain started beating you, you may never know where it stopped. However, when we dwell on history, when our focus is on history, our march into our wonderful future is constrained, delayed and at times denied.

The future is always brighter for those who wish to make it so and apply themselves fastidiously in working towards it. You have heard it said that you cannot turn the hands of the clock backwards. You can only use history lessons for projection and as a pedestal for better and greater things in the future.

Some people allow the fear of history and its stories to congeal their enthusiasm and march into their glorious future. Fear is an instrument of the psyche, which, if not conquered, determines our entire life. It is, therefore, necessary to conquer fear and free our minds from its debilitating consequences to be able to march into the future.

The mind is the engine room, the think tank from where the glories of the future emerge. If we therefore allow it to fester with fear, the products would be lilliputs, very undeserving of what our minds have been constructed to achieve. We must not be defeated by fear.

Therefore, we must conquer fear, free our minds from its debilitating effects and march forward into our glorious future. It is the fear which emanates from our past experiences that detains us from launching out into our glorious future.  Fear of the past, which is historical, makes us dwell in our cocoon of comfort without launching out.

Unless you sit for an examination, you would never know if you would pass or fail.

  4. Well said. We don’t need to dwell on the past; whatever we have been through should serve as a lesson that guides us toward a better future.

Dwelling on the past is an enemy of our future...
Knowing our past should motivate us in creating a better future.

    1. That’s the point. The past should only serve as a motivator, not to detain us.

  6. You're absolutely right. The bible told us not to remember the former things so that we can move forward. Dwelling in the past means remaining in a circle, moving round and making no headway. Yesterday is gone.
